What did the ancient Romans eat and what were their banquets like? Archaeologist Farrell Monaco will discuss what archaeological evidence tells us about the cultural and social practices associated with Roman dining, from the most luxurious villas in Pompeii to roadside food stands, and how modern food historians attempt to recreate ancient recipes. The lecture will be followed by a public reception.
