A bestseller in our Museum Store, these Creole Hoop Earrings are based on an earring from 2nd Century B.C.- 2nd Century A.D. Susa (Iran) from the Louvre Museum’s collections. To shape these elegantly simple earrings, the original goldsmith rolled a fine leaf of gold on a core made of pitch. This classic technique of the ancient Middle East made it possible to economize on the precious metal.
Earrings hang 1.25” approximately long and have a threading hook. Creole hoops in gold tone are made of brass with a gold finish. The silver tone earrings are made of sterling silver.
