Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848–1933) embodied the artistic spirit of America's Gilded Age. In the early 1890s, he developed a method of blending different colors together in glass while it was in a molten state, calling the results ''Favrile''. This rich wool-silk blend blue shawl evokes the stylized peacock feathers on his iridescent Favrile vases. Shawl measures 26 x 76 inches in size.
