Stunning in silk! This beautifully reproduced scarf is printed with a striking image of a phoenix by Katsushika Hokusai. The original work of art is an eight panel screen made during the Edo period in Japan (1603-1868) housed at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. In Japan and China the mythical phoenix is used as a symbol of the imperial household, usually related to the queen or empress. The bird represents fire, justice, the sun, obedience, fidelity and the southern star constellations. Hand rolled edges complete this printed silk scarf measuring approximately 59 x 14 inches in size.
