This vibrant image by William H. Johnson (American, 1901-1970), shows Harriet Tubman’s striking and resolute figure beautifully reproduced on this 500 piece puzzle. This work was part of Johnson’s 1945 Fighters for Freedom series that highlighted the lives and histories of Black Americans.
Harriet Tubman, an American abolitionist and political activist, was born into slavery in Dorchester County, Maryland. Eventually, she escaped slavery and subsequently made some 13 dangerous missions to rescue 70 enslaved people through a network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.
Assembled puzzle measures 18 x 24 inches in size. Not suitable for children 3 years and under.
